A good friend of mine is opening his own Golden Corral Buffet and Grill in Hesperia, Ca. at 12845 Main St. at the I15 fwy.  Planned opening date is September 10th 2010. I can’t wait! Here is a little info about the restaurant chain from the Golden Corral website:

Downtown LA from 32 miles away

This photo was taken today by me from upland looking west at 5:47pm. This happens from this vantage point 2 days a year. Normally you would see the sun encircling downtown. Today the sun was behind clouds behind and just above LA. From this vantage point, LA is 32 miles away and the brightly lit ocean behind it is 50 miles away. Shot hand-held with Nikon D200, Nikon 70-200 2.8 w/tele extender 280mm f.5 at 90th of a second RAW mode. I await the next opportunity in the fall.

It has been some time since I’ve been to the Baldy Lodge for Sunday breakfast. It was tradition for a while and we just need to get back up there…  Soon, very soon… Anyone want to join us, let me know. Good eats, good friends, good for you!
